Hello! I’m Kate Ryan*

I am an award-winning documentary filmmaker and video editor specializing in non-fiction and Creative Content. In my 15+ years of experience, I’ve edited short and feature documentaries, trailers, reality TV, behind-the-scenes featurettes, promos, sizzles, and more. Projects I’ve cut have won Emmys, Clios, Tellys, and Golden Trailer Awards, while clients have ranged from NGOs across the world to major studios, including Warner Bros., Netflix, Paramount, CBS, Universal, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Hello Sunshine. My editing work has been featured on HBO, Disney+, AMC, TLC, Apple Trailers, AFI Docs, Entertainment Tonight, PerezHilton.com, and Nylon.com, as well as exclusive content on iTunes and Blu-rays. I am a strong storyteller, and love collaborating to make the best possible end product that successfully accomplishes my client’s goals.

In 2007, I graduated from CalState Northridge School of Cinema and Television Arts with my BA. My thesis film, Point of View: A Dogumentary, won a Student Emmy Award and was a finalist in the Student Academy Awards.

In 2013, I produced, directed, and edited the feature documentary, Welcome Nowhere, about the systemic racism and poverty facing the Roma people (commonly known as Gypsies) of Eastern Europe. Narrated by multi-Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke, the film won “Best Documentary” at multiple festivals worldwide, and is available on iTunes, Amazon, and GooglePlay. It has more than 1 million views on YouTube.

When I’m not working, I can be found producing The Film Fatales Podcast, dancing in the kitchen with my son, trying a new restaurant with my husband in Los Angeles, designing new cards for A Bit Better Press, or planning a tropical vacation. Chances are I have cold brew or chocolate in my hand. Probably both.
